With the arrival of August, the beginning of school, and the end of summer vacations, many people often feel that their days are occupied and they no longer have free time to themselves. At OLA, less personal time can also mean a decline in available volunteers to lend a helping hand.
Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home (OLA) provides holistic quality care aimed to serve the physical, psychosocial and spiritual well-being of each resident. The Volunteer Program at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home offers you the opportunity to share your special talents and skills, acquire new experiences and make a difference in someone’s life.
Our Lady of Angels Volunteer Program has opportunities for everyone –teens, adults, seniors and groups of all sizes. The volunteer program also entertains a large variety of interests from resident interaction to more independent work such as clerical or gardening. All volunteer positions make a difference in the overall lives of our residents, their family and the OLA staff.
“A few current volunteer opportunities include Friendly Visitor, Dining Room Assistant, Gardening, Pet Therapy, Snack & Beverage Cart Volunteer and Activity Volunteer” states Becca Reiter, OLA’s Volunteer Coordinator.
Before volunteering, there are a few volunteer requirements to meet and complete. First, all volunteers must attend an introductory orientation and/or training session. Second, volunteers that are 18 and older will have mandatory background check provided by OLA. Lastly, all volunteers interacting with OLA residents must have a TB screening.
Working with Our Lady of Angels staff and residents is not only appreciated and welcomed, but truly is a gratifying, enlightening experience. Call us to learn more.
